As we approach the holiday season, we extend our warmest wishes to you, as a partner or member, on behalf of HOSPEEM. This is a special time to reflect on the achievements of the past year and to welcome the new opportunities and possibilities that lie ahead.
I would like to sincerely thank all HOSPEEM members for their invaluable contributions to the Association’s work. Your continued support and active participation have been crucial in reinforcing HOSPEEM’s role and the role of social partners in the hospital and healthcare sector at the EU level. There are three significant milestones that shaped our year, which we wish to highlight: Thanks to the commitment of our national members, HOSPEEM and EPSU signed the Joint Policy Orientation on Creating a Resilient Hospital and Health Sector after the COVID-19 Pandemic. The joint text sets common priorities for unions and employers and guides EU decision-makers on future legislation and funding.
This year also marked the launch of our EU-funded joint project work with EPSU, through a series of workshops within the framework of the Tackling Staff Shortages and Ensuring Future-Proofing Skills in Health” project. With the support of Danish and Dutch social partners, these workshops enabled the exchange of good practices on mental health, work-life balance, and temporary work agencies. They provided a valuable opportunity for social partners to learn from one another. We look forward to continuing these discussions in Rome, Prague, and Berlin in 2026.
Another milestone was the approval of the Joint Work Programme 2026 – 2028 at the Sectoral Social Dialogue plenary meeting in November. The programme sets priorities for the work of HOSPEEM and EPSU and aims to ensure the European social dialogue continues playing a crucial role in making hospital and healthcare resilient towards the ageing of the population and healthcare workforce, digitalisation, occupational safety and health and labour and skills shortages. This ongoing work underscores the extraordinary commitment of healthcare professionals across Europe and the crucial role of social partners in building the future of hospital care.
On behalf of HOSPEEM, we wish you a happy holiday season and look forward to working together and achieving new milestones together in the coming year.
